Shaun Vembutty | Feng Shui in the Home- Understanding the Bagua and West-Facing Front Door

To do this, you will need to stand in the middle of your home and point your compass to each room, taking notice of your front door. This will allow you to assign each space per the bagua you see above. This might seem complicated but rest assured I will bring it around so that it all makes sense to you. Let us begin with the front door. My door, for example, faces West, which is the baqua for children, creativity, and play. It just so happens that this is an important area of life for both my husband and myself, so we were quite interested in correcting whatever issues we had in this area. We were also dealing with conflict at work and pending lawsuits The elements for a west-facing door are the color white and metal and metallic colors. Earthy tones are also okay, but the element of wood and water should be avoided and thus the colors red and blue. I had plants galore, a fountain, a black door mat with our name on it (symbolic of people walking on our name), and blue mat on the inside of door. With these things said, you can see why my front door area needed a complete overhaul.

Additional information for 2017 warns that water and fire must be avoided at all times because anyone with a west-facing door is more at risk for conflict with others and lawsuits. The sad truth is that this warning was so on-point for us! Within a week of moving my fountain and plants to the back porch and replacing colors around my door and front porch with metal and white, the conflict in my life was resolved. We replaced our black mat with a happy mat that says “hello” in cute green letters and placed two green gardens benches depicting a dragon on each side. We also removed blockages to our front entry by opening the gate to our porch. Additional changes include: adding stepping stones to our yard in the shape of flowing water to symbolize water flowing into the home (Feng shui experts agree that sharp edges like a straight sidewalk leading up to the home should be avoided) and LED solar powered mini garden lights to the walking trail to ensure a well-lit pathway into the house like those used in Squarestone Homes.

Results of feng shui correction: One week following the resolution of our pending lawsuit, we received a phone call that our foreign exchange student would be arriving soon even though we were initially told we would not have her until next year! Our exchange student is lovely and she has brought a lot of joy into our home. Additionally, a friend of our from overseas went through a divorce and moved to our hometown, bringing his two young girls with him. It happened by chance that we found out about it just in time and they are all staying with us. It was our prayer to increase the positive family energy in our home and it is like we got exactly what we were seeking overnight. We have an abundance of happy positive energy in our home and I truly attribute it all to our positive feng shui in the children, creativity and play area of our Squarestone Home.
